An Iyengar Yoga teacher set up this retreat close to the Ganga River and across from the Rajaji National Park, both protected precincts. The ground level has a residence and a Iyengar Yoga Hall at the upper level. There is a constant connect to the river and the mountains from both the levels. The butterfly roof profile mimics the landscape, ensuring a view of the mountains while practising yoga, and a view of the river from the balcony.
The extreme Rishikesh weather is mitigated with the trombe wall in the south facing bedroom. This ground plus one project was constructed with a 9″ exposed brick load -bearing walls with the roof made of lightweight insulated sandwich panels, IPS flooring in the residence and a white epoxy flooring in the yoga hall.
