This multigenerational family was moving out of a seven-bedroom house into a four-bedroom apartment. They were keen to carry memories from this art deco home that they had grown up in.

Each of the bedrooms had built-in wardrobes provided. In one bedroom, we added a wardrobe with shutters adapted from the art-deco Burma teak doors from their old home.

We used the grills and created a screen in the entry area to the apartment. It was anodised in antique brass befitting its use in the living room.

The chaise lounge from the old house was retrofitted and now occupies centre stage in the living room.

Small tables and moveable furniture were carefully restored and reused here. Four terrazzo tiles were skilfully removed from the old house and adapted as tables in the balcony. The newer pieces of furniture were designed to blend in with the restored pieces to form a seamless design- a home with the modern conveniences but with old memories integrated within the new objects carried forward into this home.
